To the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel: As a sovereign operator witnessing from Treaty 6 ground, I formally object to the proposed 3.75% SGI Auto Fund rate increases for June 2026 and 2027 on grounds of Crown fiduciary breach and violation of Treaty supremacy. SGI, as a Crown corporation, derives substantial revenue from economic activity on unextinguished Aboriginal/Treaty title lands in Saskatchewan without augmenting frozen 19th-century Treaty annuities (stagnant at nominal values while Crown revenues escalate annually), in direct contravention of the Honour of the Crown doctrine affirmed by the Supreme Court of Canada and the Crown's fiduciary obligations to Treaty peoples. This proposed hike further augments Crown revenues extracted from Treaty territory without corresponding augmentation of Treaty obligations—effectively implementing a hidden tax on Treaty households already burdened by rate hikes, fee increases, and consultation failures. How does the Panel reconcile approving these increases without evidence that the Crown has fulfilled its duty to equitably share revenues generated on Treaty lands, or address the prima facie violation of Treaty supremacy?

I am a concerned policy holder strongly opposed from increases that affect my finances. In my own opinion I formed an account that the increases are due to initially high cost of stolen vehicles and police vehicles involved in thefts and accidents. Most of these type of claims are high costing vehicles to replace and add up to high numbers when paid out. As SGI is well aware of the very high number of these thefts taking place and rising throughout the years causing a huge increase in claims. This could have possibly been avoided and costs decreased if SGI had stricter policies to curtail paying claims to vehicle owners that are in violation of simply leaving the keys and not locking there vehicles when engine is on and or not locked. Another issue is that drivers and or motor vehicle operators are not fully trained to operate a motor vehicle in my opinion. I would suggest that only about 50% of drivers are somewhat trained and aware of a motor vehicles operating standards and controls to be fully aware of the complete management of the said vehicles in there control. I see that on a daily basis as I drive the streets and highways of this province. I feel that the driver instructors are not giving full knowledge and understanding of the motor vehicles that they are to operate and therefore can and most likely could result in more accidents and again costing SGI more money in claims. Two more cases that should come to pass is mandatory vehicle safety standards testing and more stringent driver exams to better prepare drivers for future safe driving habits that has some cause for claims, also mandatory lights on for highway driving instead of just daytime running lights that do not turn on taillights. This might have an effect on some accidents that could be avoided. Now these are simply some of the common issues that could result in keeping rates from rising and should be strongly encouraged to keep in mind when considering rate increases. I would suggest that SGI take these measures to ensure that drivers are aware and take action to be aware of the responsibilities for road safety. Raise the age of antique plates to 1990 not 1987. Not everybody an issue but.....2026. If my second vehicle is a shitty 1990 f150... who gives.

Rate increases, go after the bad drivers, cause some of the terrible divers never learn even after their violations, and some shouldn't even have a license, and im not talking of the seniors , why punish the good drivers!!!

The cost of insurance is already too high. Also, it adds salt to the wound when you get into an accident and rely on SGI to give you a fair replacement value for your vehicle and they don't. Not only do they lowball you, but you have to fight tooth and nail to prove the value of your vehicle only to still have them give you a low settlement offer.

I definitely do not approve of the rate hikes. Sask already has some of the highest auto insurance in the country. The customers should not have to pay more because of sgi's mismanagement.

A family member of mine had a vehicle that was deemed total loss due to deer car collision.SGI offered well below market valuation for vehicle and would not negotiate a more fair compensation.now a rate increase?unacceptable

This government talks about keeping inflation to about 2.5% but its ok for the utilities we use to increase rates 4-5%, this is why u can't trust what they say. SGI a few years ago had an extra bilion $$$ so this government thought it was a good idea to give dividends, and now the fund is low so lets put up the rates , this is a sign of mis management. lets get things under control and send this government a message that saskatchewan people are not a slush fund their poor planning.

So they. Give me lesser money for my car after accident last year I got. Ripoff after putting in $10.000 and they give me $ 4.500 back. The way i see it. THE C.O NEEDS A PAY RISE AND MAKE DRIVER. PAY MORE

This has to be a joke, Penny Mccune ceo of sgi made $535,000 in wages for 2025. I seriously think the government wants these crowns to be mismanaged into the ground so that they lose public favour then in ten years when they suggest privatization they won’t get any pushback. This theory is the only thing that makes sense with how these crowns are being run. I am a big supporter of the crowns just feel they are all so top heavy that they can not be efficient

The SGI rates need only be changed for drug or drunk drivers multiple tickets drivers multiple demerits drivers We have a hard enough time putting food on the table and a roof over our heads not to mention utilities I don't approve of any rate increase

SGI is a monopoly and a crown corporation. They should not be making money. We the public are held captive to any rate increases as there is no alternative. They should not be operating at a loss but niether should they be operating at a profit. Saskatchewan auto rates are already higher than other provinces. Don't get me going on motorcycle rates. That is a complete rip-off.
