Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel to live stream public meetings on SaskPower rate application

The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel will hold two public meetings as part of its review process on SaskPower’s application to increase the rate it charges its customers by 5%. Meetings will be held in Regina on October 3 at DoubleTree by Hilton and in Saskatoon on October 16 at Hilton Garden Inn at 7:00 p.m.

The meetings will be streamed live on the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel Facebook Live page for members of the public who cannot attend. Viewers will also be able to post questions and comments during the meetings. Video recordings of the meetings will be available for viewing later. The deadline for comments is October 30.

During the meetings a SaskPower representative will present an overview of the application, including information about the factors affecting the proposed rate increase. Officials from SaskPower will then respond to questions from the floor and online.

SaskPower has proposed to increase rates by 5%, with an implementation date of March 1, 2018. The Panel is mandated to assess the reasonableness and fairness of the rate proposal, and offer its recommendations to the provincial government by January 11, 2018.

The SaskPower rate application can be downloaded at saskratereview.ca. Other documents related to the review will be posted as they become available.
