SaskEnergy 2018 Commodity and Deliver Service Review

The Panel recommended that SaskEnergy increase the price it charges customers for natural gas (delivery rate) by 2.95%, effective April 1, 2019. This is down from the 3.7% increase proposed by SaskEnergy. The Panel also recommended that the interim rate SaskEnergy charges customers for natural gas (commodity rate) be decreased to $2.95 per gigajoule from $3.65 per gigajoule, effective November 1, 2018. The Panel further recommended that the proposed interim rate decrease for natural gas (commodity rate) effective April 1, 2019 be further decreased to $2.575 per gigajoule from $2.65 per gigajoule.

I strongly feel that saskenergys submission for an increase should be denied. As a homeowner with a mortgage and a pensioner with a limited income I feel saskenergy should be finding ways of keeping costs down by more effectively managing our resources and costs without the constant increases to our services. I understand inflation rates do occur but with what is being paid and markets surely better compromises can be made to reduce or at least keep costs from rising so regularly. Thank you for the opportunity to voice my concerns

how are people on limited low income going to be able to afford higher rates. i am on equal payments now but i know people who aren't and an increase will hurt them.

I think a small portion of each bill should go into an 'infrastructure fund" for future required upgrades to the system. This applies to both SaskPower and Saskenergy

I totally agree with their request to lower the rates for Natural Gas as there is a glut on the market and the wholesale price is low. However I don't agree with an increase in the delivery charge and the monthly basic charge included there-in. Why should we be charged a basic monthly charge of $23.20 for the privilege of doing business with them. One of my last bills was $17.57 for the supply of natural gas and the delivery charge was $37.28 which is ridiculous to be charged more for delivery of a product than the product itself. Please try to straighten this company out with some common sense!
